Healthy Living 7 Day Challenge Day One

Today, I went to my first bona fide yoga session.  My friend and newly certified yoga instructor, Lea Alston, started a free class as part of the state's healthy initiative at the Plantation Point Farmer's Market. First of all, I did not know there was a Saturday farmer's market in that area.  Secondly, I didn't know I would stumble on a free Dance Aerobics class immediately following.  Thirdly, I didn't know I would purchase 7 bottles of Suja Green Supreme organic juice.

Touting a delicious blend of kale, apple and lemon, I sampled it and bought 7 bottles from Juice Keys, one of the vendors at the market.  On the spot, I enrolled myself on a self-proclaimed 7 day challenge.  "Instead of buying a multivitamin, I'm going to drink one bottle a day for 7 days and chronicle how I feel."  Intrigued by my declaration, the owners, Chris and Kelly asked that I keep them updated on how things go.

Out of the various blends of fruits and vegetables, I chose Green Supreme because it was first great tasting and secondly because the juice was made from 5 apples, a bunch of kale and 1/2 a lemon.  It is USDA certified organic, vegan, Kosher certified, dairy free, soy free and gluten free.  That was enough for me.  Last but not least, I reasoned that the total cost of 7 is close to what I would pay for a multivitamin from my acupuncturist's preferred stash.  I had nothing to lose!

Thus begins Day One

I chug-a-lugged one bottle.  Nothing to really report.  I'm tired from getting up so early for yoga and it's a rainy lazy day.  It is gratifying nonetheless to know that rather than pittle around at home, I've had a health-conscious day.  Yoga, meditation, healthy leftovers from last night's meal with my sister friends and a 16 ounce bottle of Green Supreme.  Not too bad.

If you'd like to join me in the challenge, go to www.juicekeys.com for the drinks.  You could also drop by Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh NC at the Quail Corners Shopping Center.  They are in building 5011 Suite B.  To participate in the free yoga and dance aerobic classes, come on out to 6250 Plantation Center Drive every Saturday morning.  Again, it's in Raleigh NC off Old Wake Forest Road in the quad area of shops near BJ Warehouse's parking lot.

Let's get healthy together!  Feel free to comment and to give me your feedback.
